The Client provides corporate wellness services encouraging companies and their employees to pay more attention to health. Aiming to help employers create a mentally and physically healthy workplace, the company suggests personalized plans for each user aligned with a unique health profile.

The Case

The Client approached Velvetech with an existing web application that helps users ensure overall well-being. The company sought to collaborate with one of the prominent organic groceries certified by the US Department of Agriculture. This required meeting strict regulatory standards and passing a security audit set by the potential partner.

The Client’s Request

The Client’s web app is deployed in AWS Elastic Beanstalk, with its database residing in Amazon RDS. After our team initiated penetration tests of the web application and detected vulnerabilities, they moved on to mitigating them.

First, they implemented an AWS Web Application Firewall that helps filter, monitor, and block suspicious HTTP traffic to protect the web service. Then the team also modified the codebase to make it more resistant to any possible threats.

Extension of iOS App Functionality

To get to the point, we first started technical research to integrate the company’s iOS application with the Validic SDK. However, within the process, our Client’s vendor changed, and they switched to Terra SDK as the preferred integrated solution.

In response, Velvetech’s team swiftly adapted to the new requirements, ensuring a seamless transition and successful implementation of the Terra SDK into the app. With that being said, the vendor was continually updating Terra’s library, and Velvetech needed to keep up with the changes to produce a fully functional app.

This agility empowered our mobile developers to help the Client deliver an exceptional solution tailored to its needs within a month. As a result, the company got an innovative app for employee wellness to offer users personalized, health-enhancing diets for improving their well-being and health conditions.

Though our team ensured effective project delivery within a short timeframe, the journey toward success required harnessing some challenges.

It was our team’s first-time experience working with the AWS web application firewall. And they handled this task perfectly, ensuring the Client met its final objectives.

As for our mobile developers, they didn’t have to build a mobile app from scratch. However, they had to deal with the code written by another software vendor. This involved a comprehensive review of the app architecture, tech stack, and source code.

As a result, our team could identify existing issues and determine possible outdated components to fully understand the app’s structure and functionalities.

Velvetech assisted the Client with the implementation of all the necessary security measures required by its partner, paving the way for a smooth collaboration between the two. Now, the company can proactively suggest personalized, health-enhancing diets to its users, promoting their well-being.
